Picture a day in the life of Shahla Ahmad!

Life is like photography. We use the negatives to develop!

38) Tea Party with Me February 22, 2010

Nothing better than a tea party outside!

Yet another photo of my session from this past weekend.  This is one of my favourites from the set.  I love all the interest and different angles in the picture.  But regardless of all the different lines, there is a solitary focal point: the tea set.  I also like that you can see her feet and hand. :-)

I feel that my work is good enough to be paid for and I’ve tried some small advertising, but nothing has gone through.  I’m at a loss at what to do!

Do you have any ideas to help boost the visibility of my work and business prospects? If you do, please comment and let me know!

Peace and love!!!

The Monkey makes this picture for me!

About a month ago I said I was going to have a photo shoot with a friend, but it never happened.  Well, we were finally able to get together to take some shots.  It was awesome!  She is so beautiful and adorable and it showed through the camera.  I got MANY pictures from our work today… all types of shots.  This photo was taken about an hour before sunset.  It was a beautiful day and weather conditions couldn’t have been more perfect!  I hope you enjoy!

Peace and love!!!

36) Old Friend February 19, 2010

Laughter is one of my favourite sounds

The smile of a friend

Today I finally got up with an old friend of mine.  We haven’t seen each other since this past summer when we met randomly in front of the school Library.  Today we met up so I could help as a model for her Senior Thesis in Photography.  Afterward we sat around and talked for a while.  As we talked I decided I would take some pictures of her, since I’ve always thought she’s pretty.  While we talked I happened to capture a couple candid pictures of her.  You probably can’t tell in this photo, but she doesn’t like pictures taken of herself.  She says that she’s a photographer and that’s the way she likes it: behind the camera.  :-)   Either way, I hope she at least appreciates these pictures and my work.

Peace and Love!!!

35) Snow & Habibi February 18, 2010

Habibi experiencing his first snow

Habibi is quite young (4 months old) and he got lucky to experience snow, since this doesn’t happen often.  He didn’t really know what to do.  When he was put into the snow alone, he dashed as fast as he could to the house door.  It was quite cute.

A side note: when photographing snow, you want to meter the sky, otherwise the snow won’t look quite right in colour. Hope that may help someday.  :-)

Pecan tree in the backyard

I haven’t been doing very well recently, therefore I haven’t had much time (or energy) to do any new photography.  But don’t worry, I will be over this soon and new pictures will ensue.  For the time being I will be putting up some of my older pictures with a short statement.  I can only hope you will bear through this with me and by next week or so, my blogging will be back to it’s regular schedule.  :-)

Peace and Love!!!

Blue Beauty

I know it’s been a couple of days since I posted a picture.  I was busy this weekend visiting family and had a very full schedule. Regardless of it being busy, it was fun and I was able to capture this one shot of my cousin’s wife. :-)   She was all in blue (even though you can’t see it), and even her eyes are blue! How pretty!  I hope she enjoys this picture of her, she is quite pretty, but I don’t think she feels it.  Thankfully, my cousin makes her beautiful everyday!  What a great guy!

Peace and Love!!!

Snow of wonder!

Where I live, it doesn’t snow very often.  Maybe once a decade.  Today I woke up to white flurries across the ground… and in no time it’s gathered to 3″ !!!  I’ll be putting up more pictures of the snow later, but for now, you can enjoy this snow-gathered leaf!

Oh! What fun it was the play in the snow… It made me feel like a kid again!

Peace and love!!!

A lovely array of colours on a dreary day

I have lots of things on my list of t0-dos today… some are very important (like studying) and others not so much (like picking out a lipstick colour for the Ball this weekend).  But no matter how crazy my life gets I still try to keep my eyes open, looking for the little things that make life worth something.  For me (being a Biologist), this picture is a perfect example of a little thing worth capturing.  The fungi growing on this log was so beautiful and colourful, glistening from the water droplets that sprinkled over it like fairy dust.  *smile*  Pictures like this one make me happy.  I hope you enjoy it as well. :-)

Peace and love!!!

Day dreamer

I apologize for not posting a picture yesterday.  It was not a good day for me and I was in no mood to communicate with anyone, even a non-responsive audience.  Thankfully, by the end of the day a good friend made me feel better.  :-)

I have class to attend shortly and so again (sadly), I am posting a short blog.

The photo above was taken last year during my Spring 09 semester.  I loved the interesting twisting of the tree above the model, it made me interested in the picture.  The model above has been the best I have worked with to date.  Thankfully, several people have become interested in modeling for me within the next month or so.  :-D   So, in the not too distant future there will be more pictures with models in them.  Which is a change of pace for me from my usual nature photos.

I have begun a small project idea for my future model photo shoots.  I am doing a series of modernized fairy tale characters.  Originating from the ORIGINAL fairy tales and not the Disney versions.  I have already done Snow White.  If you have any ideas to help me, I would appreciate it.  Let me know some of your favourite classic fairy tales in their original context.  I’d love to read them!

Peace and love!!!
